Richard was born in 1967. Graduating from the Design Academy Eindhoven in 1991, he promptly set up his own industrial design studio, first in Eindhoven, and then Rotterdam in 1993. His clients include Sawaya & Moroni, Covo, Hidden, Unilever, KPN, Idée, Pure-design, Harvink, Centraal Museum, NAI, Details, and S.M.A.K. Richard is one of the key members of Droog Design, having been involved with it from it's beginning in 1993. His work is part of the collections of the Vitra Design Museum, Design Museum London, MoMA San Francisco, Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, and Centraal Museum Utrecht. He has taught and lectured at such design institutes as the Design Academy Eindhoven, ECAL Lausanne, University of Helsinki, University of Reykjavik, RCA London, and University of Berlin.
